GRAND OPENING OF 3 DAY LONG MCCS 4TH GITANJALI MANGO FESTIVAL 2015 AT SILIGURI

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 13th June, 2015: It was a mega start of the event of MCCS 4th Gitanjali Mango Festival 2015 at the City Centre premises of Siliguri near Matigara. The organizers of the event left no stone unturned to make the event a truly mesmerizing one. Dignitaries from various sections of the society starting from social entrepreneurs, educationists, artists, film personalities, political personalities etc. adorned the inaugural dais of the festival, which took place inside the City centre lounge.
The main festival i.e. the exhibition took place outside. To the surprise of the organizers there were a crowd awaiting the event despite the rains. One of the important and senior personnel, who happens to be a stalwart in North Bengal tourism promotion Mr. Raj Basu told the press “We are overwhelmed by the all round participation of younger generation, in this mango festival. It is our success that we could drive the Whatsapp addicted younger lot to this kind of rural oriented festival, where the main theme is nothing but a rural product”. Incidentally, one of the main organizers of the event is Rural Tourism Bazaar, under ACT. This is the 4thversion of the festival organized in Siliguri, where leading varieties of mangoes were being exhibited by the growers. The varieties of mangoes exhibited were like Chandan Pusa, Totapuri, Belbuta, Champa, Anupam, Alipasandh, Mallika, Golapkhas, Sourav etc. It is estimated around 300 varieties of mangoes from India and foreign countries were being exhibited in the show. Throughout the day there were programmes like Exhibitions, Competitions, Seminars and lastly the day ended with an cultural programme organized at the Centre Stage in the City Centre lounge. The event will continue upto 14th June.
